Dinosaur Shadow Drawing Fun Activity to Encourage Children to Draw
Water Play
• Got scoops? Add scoops and containers of different sizes to water play or bath time. Model using a small scoop to fill a larger one, narrating as you play, “Scoooooping, duuuumping…,” etc. Experiment some more with sizes or how high or low you pour, or just savor the scoop, fill, dump, repeat cycle.
• Got cucumbers or citrus? Placing slices of cucumber or citrus fruit in water helps baby experiment with floating objects and elevates their sensory experience with new colors, textures, smells, and even tastes.
• Got ice? Add “ice treasures” into baby’s water play bin, and you add both temperature and a first lesson in floating/sinking to the mix. Freeze water in a cake or pie tin or 32 oz. yogurt container so that ice will not melt into choking-hazard size during play. Put a few drops of food coloring into the ice, and you’ve got irresistible ice gems to explore!
Pom Pom Scoop
Another super easy one all you need is Fruit Loops paper and markers. Color circles and have the kids put the correct color cereal in the corresponding circles.
Straws in an Empty, Plastic Water Bottle
We still bring this activity with us in the car on longer road trips! We have switched it up from straws and also used pipe cleaners (Target carries a Kid Made Modern brand of really thick/fat pipe cleaners that are especially fun). I used an empty Flavored Sparkling ICE drink bottle as they are a little taller and thinner but a regular empty water bottle would work too!

Activities for Fine Motor Skills
Grab some old toilet paper or paper towel rolls, some tape, and anything that will fit (or NOT for a challenge). Then just tape the rolls up on a wall at head-level height, and let them try to see what they can fit down the tube!
Trying to cook dinner? Let your little one help you cook by letting them play with some measuring cups, some bowls and some flour!
Peeling tape off the table, or floor is great way to keep anybody entertained all while practicing using our pinchers!
Here's a great one to do with your old plastic bottles! All you need is some straws or pipe cleaners (or anything similar!), and a bottle or two. You can cut the straws or pipe cleaners to various sizes and let your kiddo put them in the top of your bottle! Any bottle with a small opening will work!
Activities for Large Motor Skills
Place some tape on a flat surface (can be a great sunny outdoor activity too) about a foot apart and then have your kiddo try and jump on the lines from start to finish!
Got pillows and couch cushions? Set up a 'path' for your kiddo to walk, jump across, jump over, or crawl on top of!
